Globe Life Field
They say that everything is bigger in Texas, including its stadiums and venues. The Globe Life Field is a baseball park located in Arlington, and it has experienced some recent changes. As of 2020, it became the steady home of major league baseball team Texas Rangers. Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused the major baseball league to establish a playoff bubble for safety concerns, a limited amount of fans could attend games at this facility while staying true to safety regulations and social distancing norms.
This stadium is fairly new. It represents a brand new generation of extremely modern, state-of-the-art facilities that will likely usher in a new generation of what a venue like this could be. Today, the audience is not just looking for seats and corn-dogs but a broader experience. Going to a venue such as the Globe Life Field could be so much more than just attending an event, and it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of legacy this relatively new venue will leave behind throughout the years. The Globe Life Field came about in 2016 as a concept, floating in the air. The Rangers were no longer feeling at home at their former facility, Globe Life Park. They wanted a new stadium to accommodate their needs and treat the audience to a better facility. They announced that they would feature some tech innovations, such as a retractable roof (a must for most modern baseball parks), as well as synthetic grass. In recent years, most major baseball stadiums and venues have decided to switch to synthetic turf instead of natural grass. Natural grass can be quite expensive and time-consuming, especially in a location that’s defined by dry and hot weather, which requires insane amounts of water, time, maintenance, and other resources. Because of extremely hot weather, most people seemed to be a bit put off at the idea of spending several hours in the old Globe Life Park. However, the new facility will be much more crowd-friendly, with cooling solutions and a nice roof to protect the audience from rainfall. In line with most modern trends, Globe Life Field also features a diverse and well-stocked shopping mall and a hotel, which is going to be opened in the vicinity of the stadium very soon. In addition to that, the venue will eventually undergo other renovations, which will enable it to host soccer and football games as well.
One of the biggest hurdles faced by this stadium was the Coronavirus pandemic. Although it was supposed to open to the public on March 23, the pandemic caused several months of delay. However, the venue finally opened to the general public on May 29, albeit with restrictions. The current situation is still far from being resolved at the time of this writing, and it has been severely limiting attendance at the Globe Life Field and many other venues all across the country and the whole world. Weathering this storm will undoubtedly be a difficult challenge, especially when there is so much at stake. However, the Globe Life Field is certainly poised for a brighter future ahead!
Staying true to the traditional spirit of Texas, the Globe Life Field has also recently taken over as a venue for the National Finals Rodeo (hosted by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association).
